Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker have paused IVF treatments for now as the couple focuses on getting married while they also address the new concern of Travis’ health.

“We started an IVF journey, but I stopped,” the 43-year-old mom of 3 shared in an interview with WSJ Magazine (1). She explained that IVF was taking a toll on her body, and she just wanted to pause so they could focus on their wedding.

A few weeks after they got hitched, the 46-year-old Blink 182 drummer was rushed to the hospital due to life-threatening pancreatitis. A source from ET Online (2) shared that the newlyweds are doing so much better after the health scare. In fact, they are still hoping to grow their family.

“Having a baby together is still an ongoing conversation, but Travis’ health is top priority right now,” shared the source close to the couple.

Kourtney-Travis wedding

Kourtney and Travis got legally married in Santa Barbara, California in May 2022 but they had their “practice wedding” a month earlier in Las Vegas after attending the Grammy Awards. They couldn’t get the marriage license because it was too late.

“There was no possibility to get a marriage license at that hour,” Kourtney said on Jimmy Kimmel Live! a few days later. “We asked, like, five times. ‘What do we have to do to make this happen?’ It was 2 a.m. and they were like, ‘It opens at 8 o’clock.’”

The couple also later exchanged their vows at a lavish wedding in Portofino, Italy but whether or not you’ll get to see the ceremony on the second season of ‘The Kardashians’ on Hulu is not decided yet.

“I have hours and hours and hours of footage,” Kourtney said. “I don’t know if we’re going to keep it for home video or share it with the world.”

Kourtney Kardashian IVF struggles

The reality star has been very vocal about her IVF journey and the effect it is having on her. Earlier on their show, Kourtney talked about their failed IVF egg retrieval (4), her struggles with weight gain and menstrual changes, and also claimed that IVF drugs caused early menopause for her.

In May 2022, the couple encountered a milestone in their IVF journey when they were all set for egg retrieval. However, it didn’t go as they had hoped. The doctor said they were able to retrieve a good quality egg but it could not be fertilized to a healthy embryo.

It was a bummer because Dr. A said about the egg, “This is the best it’s ever been. We’ve never gotten to this point.”

The emotional ride

A source close to the Kardashians said in an interview with People (4) that the IVF journey has been an emotional rollercoaster for the couple, especially for Kourtney.

“Travis is not putting any pressure on Kourtney though,” they said. “He just wants her to be happy and healthy.”

Kourtney’s Ayurvedic cleanse for IVF

The first season of the Hulu show featured Kourtney Kardashian undertaking an Ayurvedic Panchakarma cleanse to rid her body of toxins and improve the quality of eggs for fertilization. She was in the process of preparing her body to start the IVF process again.

The Kardashians are known to do a lot of things in the pursuit of wellness and beauty, but the eldest Kardashian sister described the cleanse as one of the most extreme things she’s experienced.

“It’s all these things you can’t do: No sex, no caffeine, no alcohol, no sugar. You’ve gotta eat this really clean, strict diet and you do it for five days,” she said. In addition to the 5-day cleanse and IVF diet, she also spent four hours daily getting treatments at the spa.

“Everything is very ritualistic and has a purpose, and it’s fascinating. I was doing it mostly for cleansing my body [in preparation to] hopefully have a baby.”

Giving up caffeine, sex, and sugar for IVF?

The reality star with 198 million Instagram followers was asked if giving up caffeine, sex, and sugar was worth it. “Yeah, kind of,” she said.

Although, she couldn’t wait to have caffeine again, she remains committed to a clean and healthy lifestyle while preparing her body for another IVF journey after their recent pause on IVF.

In an episode of The Kardashians reality series on Hulu, Kourtney shared how she looks forward to the day when she and the musician can hopefully have their own baby together.

“I think having that experience with Travis would just be incredible,” she says. “I know he’s a really, really amazing father.”

Kourtney Kardashian & Travis Barker’s blended family

Kourtney has three children: Mason, 12; Penelope, 10; and Reign, 7, son with her former partner, Scott Disick.

Travis has a daughter son Landon, 18, and Alabama, 16, with former girlfriend Shanna Moakler. He also takes care of his 23-year-old stepdaughter Atiana De La Hoya.

Together, the two of them have acquired a big, blended family. Contrary to their status as reality-TV celebrities, Kardashian and Barker seem to enjoy life out of the limelight once in a while, with the former dubbing themselves as anti-social.

“I think we’re pretty antisocial! We have family dinner once a week at home with a chef and then besides that I love to have one-on-one time with my kids,” she said.

Expanding further into the world of wellness

While Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker have paused their IVF, they seem determined to be as healthy and committed to working on other areas of their life.

The Poosh founder is expanding her empire further into the world of women’s wellness and she is set to debut a new line of supplements that are non-GMO, vegan, gluten-free, and contain no synthetic colors. The new line of supplements is marketed to reduce stress-related food cravings, promote energy metabolism, and reduce stress-related food cravings.

“After years of struggling to find the right supplements, I embarked on a journey to create science-backed products that you would legitimately look forward to taking every day,” the celebrity mogul shares.

Advisory board member, Dr. Thais Aliabadi says that Kourtney made sure to prioritize ingredients that were bioavailable to fill nutritional gaps in diets (5).

Juggling her role as a mother, a wife, a reality-TV star, and an entrepreneur about to launch her newest business empire, Derek Blasberg of Wall Street Journal asked Kourtney about her current state of health and she said: “My health is amazing. I love to get blood work and analyze it and send it to my doctors and make sure I’m all good.”
