49-year-old from the UK conceives with donor eggs

A 49 year old female from Wokingham, Berkshire, England, reported with advanced age and uncertainity around conception.

The patient of Thai descent had irregular periods, low AMH in her mid-40s and her medical history was complicated due to a prior stroke that left her with mild-paralysis in her left arm and leg in 2015. She made full recovery since and was now trying to conceive again in 2022, at 49 years.

She had stopped all medications after discussion with her consultant neurologist and was now only taking Aspirin 75mg a day.

Her partner, who was English, had normal sperm but with reduced motility at 34%.

Healthy embryos were frozen after donor egg IVF and she conceive in her first attempt.

Main diagnosis: Stopped menstruating, no viable eggs

Past medical history: Tried IVF in the UK at the age of 46 years. She had low ovarian reserve and multiple small fibroids, which were considered insignificant. She also suffered a stroke earlier in 2015 but made full recovery before considering IVF again.
