IVF in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

5 FERTILITY SPECIALISTS

Last updated: Oct 18, 2026
IVF in Kuala Lumpur costs around MYR 18,000 and upwards per cycle, at private fertility clinics in Mont Kiara, Bangsar and the city center. These areas differ in how easy they are to reach by rail, but more than the travel time, it is advisable to pick a fertility clinic based on their care standards and doctors' experience. During the stimulation phase, you will be required to return for scans and blood tests several times over about two weeks, followed by egg retrieval under sedation. While city center clinics can be reached on the LRT or MRT, Mont Kiara has no rail station, so if you live elsewhere in the Klang Valley you will likely drive or use Grab. If you are flying in from another country, the Kuala Lumpur International Airport is connected to the KL Sentral by the Express Rail Link. Genetic testing and long-term embryo storage is offered by most IVF clinics in KL, so you can easily return later for a frozen transfer at the same clinic.

Getting to Kuala Lumpur for IVF

Kuala Lumpur is served by Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and the adjacent KLIA2 terminal, located approximately 70 km south of the city center. Express Rail Link (ERL) trains connect both terminals to KL Sentral in under 30 minutes, from where the Mont Kiara, Bangsar and city center clinic areas are reachable by Grab in 20 to 30 minutes.

Hotels in Mont Kiara, Bangsar, and the city center range from MYR 180 to MYR 450 per night for a standard hotel. Serviced apartments in these areas are practical for an extended stay and are close to the main fertility centers. Mont Kiara is not served by public rail, so a Grab account is useful for daily transport between appointments.

IVF success rates in Kuala Lumpur

City-specific success rates are not published separately in Malaysia, and the figures clinics share are self-reported. When you compare Kuala Lumpur clinics, ask each one for live birth rates per embryo transfer by age group, and whether the figures include both fresh and frozen transfers.

Kuala Lumpur IVF: common patient questions

How does Kuala Lumpur compare to Kota Damansara for IVF?

Kota Damansara is a suburb approximately 20 km north of KL city center with several fertility specialists. Kuala Lumpur has a broader range of specialists and is more convenient for international patients arriving at KLIA.

Which areas of Kuala Lumpur have the most fertility clinics?

The highest concentration of IVF clinics in Kuala Lumpur is in Mont Kiara. A smaller number of clinics operate in Bangsar and the city center.

Do KL fertility clinics treat international patients?

Yes. Patients from Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Australia, and the UK travel to Malaysia for IVF, and most clinics in Kuala Lumpur have dedicated international patient coordinators.

How many days do I need to be in Kuala Lumpur for IVF?

A fresh cycle typically requires 12 to 16 days for monitoring, retrieval, and embryo transfer. Most clinics accept pre-travel blood work and scans completed in your home country before arrival.

Is PGT-A genetic testing available in Kuala Lumpur?

Yes. PGT-A is available at major fertility centers in Kuala Lumpur and is used to test embryos for chromosomal abnormalities before transfer. PGT-A is an add-on billed outside the base IVF package at Kuala Lumpur clinics, with pricing that varies by the number of embryos tested.

Are frozen embryos stored long-term at KL clinics?

Yes. KL fertility clinics offer embryo cryostorage, typically billed as an annual fee. Unused embryos from your cycle can remain in storage for future frozen embryo transfers at the same clinic.

What is the best way to get from KLIA to the clinic districts in KL?

The ERL from KLIA or KLIA2 to KL Sentral takes 28 to 33 minutes. From KL Sentral, Mont Kiara is most easily reached by Grab, as public rail does not serve it directly, while Bangsar and city center clinics are close to LRT and MRT stations. Travel time from KL Sentral to Mont Kiara is approximately 20 to 35 minutes depending on traffic.

Are IVF costs in Kuala Lumpur higher than in other Malaysian cities?

KL costs are broadly in line with the national average for IVF in Malaysia. Kuala Lumpur has a wider selection of clinics and greater infrastructure for international patients.

Dr Prashant and his team were wonderful throughout the entire IVF process. They were there to answer all my questions, the costs were outlined very clearly and simply, the staff were very friendly and made the experience as comfortable as possible given the nature. This and the fact that I live in Singapore, and the issues with logistics that came with this proved challenging at time - they were very helpful. The Clinic was clean, orderly and welcoming. The wait time can be long, but as long as you are prepared to wait (I was coming from Singapore so had nothing else to do!) then there are no concerns.
