How the IVF regulations data is sourced
Each entry reflects the law or binding national guideline in force at the last review date. Where a country has passed a law that is not yet in effect, the current rule is shown and the pending change is noted.
- Primary sources first. Statutes, regulator guidance, and court rulings are used where available, followed by legal analyses and peer-reviewed surveys.
- Pending verification is shown openly. Entries with a dotted pattern have not yet been confirmed against a source and are never filled in by assumption.
- Clinic policy is separate from law. A country can legally allow a treatment that individual clinics still decline, so eligibility is always confirmed with the clinic.
- Federal and state systems are summarized at national level. In the United States, Mexico, and Australia, state rules can differ from the national summary.
This map is for comparison only and is not legal advice. Laws change, so confirm the current position with a licensed clinic or a lawyer in that country before making treatment decisions.
