3. Choosing a clinic based on Instagram marketing instead of lab quality and doctor experience. Fancy branding means nothing if the embryology side is weak.
4. Obsessing over every symptom during the two week wait. IVF can turn people into detectives analyzing cramps, spotting, sleep, and even how they’re breathing.
5. Comparing themselves to strangers online. Someone else getting 30 eggs or 5 embryos has absolutely nothing to do with your outcome.

One mistake I see constantly is people entering IVF with a “hard work guarantees results” mindset.

IVF doesn’t always reward effort fairly. You can take every supplement, follow every rule, do every injection perfectly, and still get disappointing results. That disconnect hits people really hard emotionally.

Another big one is not asking enough questions because they’re intimidated by clinics. Some patients go through entire cycles without fully understanding: why this protocol was chosen,

what the backup plan is, or what happens if fertilization fails.

I also think people underestimate how much IVF can distort their thinking over time. Every phone call starts feeling catastrophic. Every symptom becomes a clue. Life shrinks into waiting periods and lab updates.
