Yes, Nita Ambani, the power woman, who sits on the International Olympic Committee and is among the most influential women business leaders in Asia, had struggled to be a mother.

Her daughter Isha Ambani talked about it in her Vogue interview.

“My parents had us after eight years of marriage—my twin Akash and I were IVF babies,” Isha told Vogue Magazine.

Nita was diagnosed with infertility when she was only 23.

“Even when I was in school, I would write long, copious essays titled, ‘When I’ll be a mother…’ Here I was at the age of 23 being told that I would never conceive. I was shattered,” she had said in an old interview.

“After a long eight-year wait, I did get pregnant. It was a traumatic pregnancy, but no amount of pain deterred me…”

Three years after their birth, she conceived her youngest son, Anant Ambani, naturally.

Mrs. Nita Ambani had said she always wanted to be a mother since her childhood. "A few years after I got married, I was told by the doctors that I would never have children. However, modern medical science and IVF opened the doors for her and she conceived with the help of Dr. Firoza Parikh in Mumbai. To their delight, she'd conceived twins.

Mrs. Ambani said that her pregnancy was traumatic and the twins were born prematurely at seven months, while she was in the US. Her husband, Mukesh Ambani, was on a flight back to India. The moment he landed, he was told Mrs. Ambani has gone into labor and that he needs to head back.

Mr. Ambani and his mother Kokila ben, accompanied by Dr. Firoza started their journey back to America, where Nita was already admitted to the hospital.

Somewhere during this journey, the pilot announced that Mrs. Ambani has delivered twins-a boy and a girl. They were overjoyed.

This is when the Reliance chairman also decided the names of his children:

Akash - meaning "sky" in Sanskrit, because he was in the sky when he received the news.

Isha - meaning the "goddess of mountains", because he was flying over mountains at the time.

Three years later, their third baby, Anant, was born on April 10, 1995, in a relatively smooth pregnancy. He had been conceived naturally.

This time Mrs. Ambani ended up gaining a lot of pregnancy weight, perhaps because she was tool full of joy. "Everything was double magnified," she said. "I was so overjoyed at being a mum that I had let myself go."
