What is the cost of IVF in Mexico?

We're considering Mexico for affordable IVF but I'm not sure. Is it safe? Is it actually cheap?

I know a couple who recently got IVF in Mexico and they were claiming to have saved around 60% in costs quoted by their local doctor.
Obviously, the costs vary by clinic standards but even the best clinics offer IVF (including medications) for around $7,000 - $8,000.
I've mostly heard good things but also some concerns, but as I understand low-cost IVF in Mexico is possible because of the lower rents, lower wages of doctors and staff, cheaper medications, affordable food, lodging, and everything else that is priced moderately.

I looked into IVF in Mexico at one point because US prices were honestly overwhelming. The clinics there seemed way more affordable upfront, even after travel costs. But the thing I kept noticing is that the “starting price” usually doesn’t include everything. Meds, embryo freezing, genetic testing, extra scans, hotels, flights… it adds up quickly.
A friend of mine actually went to Mexico for treatment and said the care was good, but coordinating everything while traveling was stressful too. You’re dealing with appointments, injections, timing your cycle, and being in another country at the same time.
That said, I totally understand why people consider it. If IVF at home feels financially impossible, Mexico can make treatment feel at least somewhat reachable. I’d just ask clinics for a FULL cost breakdown first because a lot of people get surprised by the extras later.
